The following questions will be looked at in this session: -

•What does ‘learning through play’ actually mean, and what is the adult role in this?
•Should play opportunities be structured, with learning intentions defined by adults?
•Is it ‘play’ if adults have designed the activity?
•How do we observe children’s patterns of play and how can this information be used?
•Are we identifying schematic behaviour or ‘labelling’ children?
